Server migration

Migration of websites from our existing servers to the new has began. In addition, the email migration continues.

Backups have always been taken as a precaution against server failure and this is still true for our older servers also. However the new servers now have a daily file backup with a 30 day archive.

What does this mean?

Backups on the old servers were solely for our use for restoration of the server in the event of server failure. Clients couldn’t have individual files restored in the event of them accidentally being deleted by the client.

Backups on the new servers can now be used to restore individual files up to a 30 day period. So this means that if a file is accidently deleted by you today, we can restore it from a backup from any day within the previous 30 days. This shouldn’t be considered a free for all though, as we reserve the right to charge for the restoration of files where we see fit.

Which server am I on?

We are slowly moving all clients from the older to the new servers, including upgrading email accounts to our new Gigamail system, but this is a mammoth task with so many clients and websites. However we are moving most sites over at some point in time.
